Now that Nami had moved in, things had gotten a lot more complicated. It pissed him off, just like nearly everything about that woman, but at the same time, it was impressive. Nami actually cared about her health. And about Luffy's, and shockingly enough, about his own. So, no more take-out, or ramen, or cereal, or whatever happened to be lying in the back of the fridge for dinner anymore. Well, at least not very often. Considering she had to do most of the cooking, Nami wasn't totally against eating out, as long as it was cheap and somewhat sensible. He resented it sometimes, the way she'd just taken over their lives, but still, it was nice that she was concerned.

Shopping was interesting. After the last time he'd returned with all the items on her list and about twenty that weren't on it, Nami refused to let him shop alone. Luffy was an absolute disaster shopping by himself, and Nami hadn't even bothered to ask him. But when she only came back with her rabbit food and yogurt, well, he knew he'd have to go along. Especially since she'd bought shredded wheat for breakfast but forgot his and Luffy's Lucky Charms. It was wrong to mess with a man's cereal. It was even worse to mess with the cereal of a hyper-active 17-year-old who could still manage to whine like a little child when he was unhappy.

Thus, it was Tuesday, grocery day. It was the one day of the week when he didn't have either class, practice, or the late shift at work. Nami was also free; her part-time job at the accounting firm was only Monday-Wednesday-Friday, and all her evening classes were on Thursday and Saturday. They arrived separately, Zoro zooming up on his bike with Luffy in tow, Nami parking her sensible Honda near the front. He was sure they made an interesting group, the well-dressed, sharp looking young woman accompanying a biker/thug and an apparent simpleton.

Luffy wasn't stupid, Zoro had to remind himself of this sometimes. After all, not every high school senior was also in 300 level psychology classes at the nearby state university. Luffy's brain functioned very well, too well, in certain areas, but most of the time he was too distracted by everything around him. For example, the local super market. Zoro had to keep tabs on him as they walked down the aisles. Luffy would disappear, getting into mischief and eating produce if he wasn't under careful supervision. But at the same time, the teen worked miracles for harried parents. He was a genius at convincing a crying child that the all-important........

well, that's fifteen minutes (12:45). Not much about actual shopping here...but it does continue that AU I wrote two drabbles about a while back. Not that bad either. I should do this again...must make Brian think of good prompts.

Totally.

I like Lucky Charms, except in this weird way where I'm not all that fond of them until I start eating them, but once I get going I could eat the whole damn box.
