Title: Kid Like You

“No fair! You cheated!”

“Mmnnaaa! That’s ‘cause I’m a pirate, and you’re just a stupid marine. You can’t catch me!”

“Fine. Then I wanna be a pirate too. I’ll sail with you guys.”

“Who says I’d let a kid like you join my crew, huh? I only take strong guys with me.”

“Sha~anks! I’m strong! My punch is as strong as a pistol.”

“If you can hit me with that fist of yours, I might think about it, but you’re too slow!”

“You’re mean, so just for that, I’ll hit ya extra hard.”

Shanks stuck his tongue out at the young boy again, dodging easily around the barrel. They’d been going in circles around it for quite some time, the kid never quite able to catch the laughing pirate captain. Within the comfortable shade of the local tavern, most of his crew were observing his antics.

"The Cap'n sure seems to like kids."

"Mmmm."

"This one's quite a character. Cute, too, and real determined. Whaddaya think, about seven?"

Ben nodded, raising his eyes from his book long enough to see the boy almost tag Shanks, the captain saving himself only by jumping up on the barrel.

Shanks thumbed his nose at the child as he dodged seeking fingers.

"Too short to get me. You can't jump up here either. You're an anchor, just like it says on your shirt."

"Grrrr. I'll show you."

The young boy backed away from the barrel, stopping about ten steps from Shanks. There was a fierce look of determination on his face, and his hands were balled into fists.

"What, you gonna get some momentum to jump up here? I don't think so."

The child didn't answer as he charged forward. Yasopp watched, waiting for the inevitable leap, but the boy surprised him, crashing full force into the barrel instead. His plan was a success. The move caught Shanks off guard, and the wobbling of the barrel did the rest. He fell, crashing down to land on his butt, shock evident on his face.

"Hehha, didja, hahaha, didja catch that, Ben? Ho, man, that's one tricky kid. Reminds me of my boy."

The first mate grinned, dropping his book on the table as he rose to give Shanks a hand.

"Bested by a little kid. Some captain you are."

"Shut up. Besides, he didn't actually get me."

It was true. The lad had dislodged Shanks from his perch, but the impact had knocked him down as well. He'd never actually hit Shanks with his fist. Yasopp was crouched over him, smiling down at the dizzy-looking boy.

"Hey kiddo. You ok?"

The child nodded, a smile fit to split his face forming as he spotted Shanks. Ben had hauled him to his feet, and now the captain was swiping at the dirt on the back of his pants.

"Maybe I can't jump that high, but I can still beat you."

Yasopp helped the boy to his feet.

"You certainly got him. What's your name, kid?"

"Luffy. Monkey D. Luffy. I'm gonna be a great pirate."

"Is that so? Well, Luffy, looks like you're makin' a great start, eh Shanks?"

The captain nodded, "C'mon kid, I'll get you a drink."

Yasopp watched as Shanks grabbed Luffy's hand, towing the boy into Partie's Bar.

"So much like Usopp. My boy'll be a great pirate some day."

Ben clapped a hand on his shoulder. "Come on. Let's go make sure Shanks doesn't actually order him a beer."

Title: Louder
Rating: PG13
Pairing: ZoLuNa and UsoSan

"Dammit, if they don't quiet down I'm gonna..." Nami muttered under breath as a particularly loud moan carried through the thin walls of the hotel. "Right, I've had just about enough. Some people are trying to sleep." With a small grunt, she heaved herself upward, raising a fist to bang on the wall behind her. As she swung it forward, another hand shot up, catching her by the wrist before she actually made contact with the cheap plaster.

"Oi. Leave them be." Nami turned to glare down at her bedmate. Zoro hadn't even bothered to open his eyes. Now he cracked one, as if in response to her gaze, which was promising him much pain in the near future. Still holding her wrist, he yawned. "Look. I know they're damn noisy. Or at least Usopp is. But give'm a break. After all..." And here Zoro grinned a rather salacious grin. "We were makin' more noise than that not too long ago. Or rather..." He smiled fondly now at the form resting between them. "He was." Luffy snored softly, head pillowed on Zoro's chest. His legs twitched a little, as if disappointed they were no longer entwined with Nami's.

Nami's face softened a bit as she stared at the sleeping captain. "True. He's really loud in bed. Even louder than normally. You can let go now, lunkhead, I won't bother them."

Zoro complied, too comfortable to take offense at 'lunkhead'. After all, it was 2 in the morning, and Luffy had been very demanding. Nami too, come to think of it. He settled back into the pillows; sleep would come soon. Except that a particularly loud moan sounded next door, and in his room Nami groaned. "Look at it this way, it can't last much longer from the sound of it. And besides, he's been louder."

"When?" Nami muttered, her head now buried underneath an extra pillow.

"Remember that one night you and Robin went off to that bar? Well, me 'n that shitty cook got into an argument about who's better. Let's just say Usopp can get louder, but I can get Luffy to top even that."

"So that's why I had to pay extra for the noise disturbance. You owe me again."

"Aaahhhh, Saaaaannnnnnnnjiiiiii." The cry seemed to echo off the walls; even Luffy snorted, burrowing deeper up under Zoro's arm.

"See, they're done."

"They better be." Nami cautiously lifted the pillow off her head a few moments later. It was quiet at last, other than for the snoring, Zoro having joined Luffy in a nocturnal duet. But that was normal, almost soothing at this point. So Nami curled up against Luffy's back, and smiled as Zoro's hand grabbed hers. "Night lunkhead."
