Title: Letting Go
Pairing: Zeff -> Sanji (paternal)
Rating: G
Word Count: 239
Zeff heaved a sigh as he slumped down on his bed, the air from the hole in his roof stirring his mustache and the curtains. Another thing to do on his ship. But he couldn't begrudge the straw-hatted youth this damage. After all, the teen was the answer to his main problem. His little eggplant wasn't so little anymore, hadn't been for quite a few years. And he himself wasn't the same gruff pirate who had saved the stubborn lad. To put it quite plainly, he didn't have the energy anymore to run his restaurant and take care of Sanji.
The boy, for he still couldn't bring himself to call him a man for all that Sanji was one, had him exhausted. New recipes, new deceptions so he didn't get a swelled head, new exercises, new stories. All in all, he was simply out of ideas. It was time for the lad to get out into the world, chase his own dreams, learn new things for himself. And he thought he could dredge up enough strength to convince Sanji to leave. Not that he wouldn't miss the stubborn little fool, for he would, but Sanji had to move on. He sank back into the matress; the shadows cast from the setting sun were cool, and he was very tired. Tomorrow would be time enough to take care of Sanji, or maybe it could even wait until the next day.

Date: 2004-06-21 11:43 pm (UTC)I really like it. It's not often I see anyone even touch Zeff with any depth, and it's very apparent to me that there's a huge character dynamic between he and Sanji.
It's kind of cute in a way. ^_^
