Title: Pirate Skills
Rating: G
Character: Luffy
Word Count: 397
Prompt: Skill
Before he left Fuschia Village, Luffy did one rather smart thing. He made a list. A mental checklist to be precise and on it he included all the characteristics of what he considered to be an awesome pirate crew. He needed to have someone with sword-fighting skills (because Shanks was awesome with his and there was no way Luffy was coordinated enough to take up the art himself). He needed someone with navigating and sailing skills (because Luffy had a lot of trouble reading maps and his main sailing skills involved rowing and dropping anchors). There would have to be a person with sniping skills (because Shanks had Yasopp and all good pirate ships had cannons) and definitely someone with cooking skills (because Luffy liked meat but there was something called scurvee or the like and maybe his other crewmates would want – although Luffy didn’t see why – more to eat besides protein).
And all good crews needed an individual with doctoring skills (because being a pirate could be dangerous and Luffy had no idea how to fix, say, a severed limb). It would be nice too to have someone who was smart and knew all about pirates and old treasures and stuff like that, book skills, (because Luffy was sure he would want to find buried treasure but he had no idea how to even start to look for some) and he would certainly need a person who could keep his future pirate ship in good repair with carpentry skills (because Luffy’s experience with hammers tended to end up with giving someone else a headache when he inevitably hit his thumb and his rubber body sent the hammer rebounding into the air). Music skills – a musician - were also a necessity (because it could get boring on the ocean – Shanks had said so – although Luffy didn’t really see how) because it was fun to sing and dance and he would need a person to sing sea shanties to him just like Lucky Roux had.
And he had rubber skills and meat-eating skills and Pirate King skills – whatever those were but it didn’t really matter because he was going to be the king of the pirates and therefore would have them – enough skills to be a pirate captain who could get to the Grand Line, find Shanks, and ultimately get the One Piece and become the Pirate King.

(I don't think so and that's what makes him extra awesome, because he has such a ridiculous vulnerability for a pirate and he knows it too)
