Heat. Heat everywhere and even though he was sweating, hair plastered across his forehead and tickling at the back of his neck, he just wanted more of it. More of that incandescent mouth scorching across his throat. More of the rough frictive hands pulling at his hip and his cock. And more, as much as he could get, of the smolderinging length stroking inside, stoking the flames. His hands raked blazing lines across the slick and heaving back over him as he panted for breath, humid air grazing his face in return. They thundered feverishly together in search of the end, seeking to extinguish the flames in bliss. Summer lightning raced up his spine and flashed behind his eyelids and the fire surged a final time, spent itself for the grand finale.

Later, when he could move again, he had to seek out the little doctor for his bad case of rug burn.

Smooth cotton and then cool air brushed across Hina’s shoulder, stirred loose strands of her hair and sent some drifting down to rest on her face. It tickled and she wrinkled her nose, not yet ready to really wake up. Next to her a body shifted, stirred again and changed the landscape of the mattress. Hina cracked open an eyelid to watch the proceedings as the young woman slowly eased her way upright, slipping out from beneath the covers with as little distrubance to the blankets as she could manage. Sitting on the pillow with her waist and legs still hidden, Tashigi wove her fingers together, thrust them palm out in front of her so that the muscles in her arms stood out in sharp relief. Slowly, so slowly that Hina would have suspected her of being a tease if she didn’t know the lieutenant believed she was still asleep, the arms moved higher. Higher until they rested above tussled hair and still-closed eyes. Higher until they started to fall back, moving lower so that Tashigi’s spine curved and her shoulder blades rolled up and disappeared beneath her skin. Something popped but Hina’s attention was trained on the pale swell of the lieutenant’s left breast, caught on the warm brown disk of nipple still mostly flat from the warmth of sleep. Then the arms came back down, blocked part of her delicious view as the marine smothered a yawn into her hand and the captain buried a small sigh of disappointment into her pillow. And before Tashigi could decide to get up, Hina wrapped an arm like iron band around her waist and tugged her back down beneath the sheets. They could afford to put off the morning for a little while longer.

“Lieutenant.”

Tashigi froze at the deep intonation of her rank, caught red-handed with her shoes in hand and the moon nearly sunk beneath the waves. How had he known? How long had he been waiting? And whatever would she say? It wasn’t as if she wasn’t allowed shore leave after all and the men came back at all hours of the night. And it wasn’t as if she’d returned stumbling drunk and singing rowdy, bawdy songs loud enough to wake the rest of the ship. Taking a deep breath, she turned around slowly to face the owner of the voice. Squinting against the lantern light, she sketched a salute and managed to hit herself in the face with the toe of one of her boots.

“Sir.”

Captain Smoker hrrumphed to cover up the sharp chuckle that had wanted to escape and stepped forward to rest a hand on his second’s shoulder.

“A little vegetable oil and rubbing alcohol should take care of that lieutenant.”

“Sir?”

“On your collar.”

Bending her neck awkwardly, Tashigi was just able to make the crimson smear on the white wool lining of her jacket collar. Oh. Oh! That was probably from when Captain Hina…Blinking at the memory, the lieutenant started blush and wished she could disappear.

“Thank you, sir. Um, I’ll see to it now if you’ll excuse me?”

He waited for just a few seconds longer than necessary so he could watch the flush across her cheeks deepen and spread towards her neck before he nodded. There was nothing quite as entertaining when he had to be stuck on board as making the troops squirm. “Dismissed.”

She fled gratefully and it wasn’t until days later that Tashigi had the presence of mind to wonder just how Captain Smoker knew what would work.

Title: Mail
Pairing: NaVi, RoNa
Rating: G
Theme: Make Up
Word Count: 300
Notes: Contains angst

The letter arrived by some breed of sea gull she’d never seen before. The postal bird had an anxious air about it and flew off before she could hand over payment, leaving the princess standing in the sunlit courtyard staring down at familiar handwriting. It had been a while since she’d last heard from her and then it had only been a few hastily penned lines about a cloud kingdom and a promise to write more at a later, unspecified date. Not nearly enough to keep her from worrying but she’d have done that anyway.

Her hands shook as she carefully unfolded the two-page missive and she had to sit down as the words within sent her world spinning abruptly off its axis. It wasn’t the part about the World Government that got to her the most, although that had made her heart stutter in her chest. She knew for a fact the Straw Hat crew did not know what they had brought upon themselves, and how would her father be able to refuse a troop summons should it come to that? No, what made her dizzy and had her breath coming in short gasps, had the neat and looping text in front of her blurring was what she could read easily in between the lines. Nami was in love with her, with the same woman who’d helped to bring Alabasta to its knees.

The princess carefully smoothed the paper between her hands, folded it closed as she began mentally composing her reply. It would be full of cheer, encouragement, and warnings to be careful that she knew would be ignored and she’d leave out the part about how much she longed for the navigator in particular to return some day. Vivi was finished pretending not to see the truth.
