Oh, and here's a stupid drabble that is written under the influence of 387-388. It's lame and probably not at all how Oda will work things but I wanted to write it so I did.
Title: Gear 2
Rating: G
Pairing: Um...ZoLu if you want it
Word Count: 378
A familiar wave of energy swept over Zoro; its feeling bright and focused. He grinned broadly as the first crest of it washed through his own gathered power. His captain's signature determination and belief was palpable even in the ocean of conflicting energies that filled Enias Lobby. There was something different in it too; something that felt like heat and not just the heat that comes from anger. It filled him, suffusing him to the point where he had to strike out or be swept away, and he mowed down another wave of marines and court guards with barely any effort at all.
Luffy had been up to something. That much he could tell. They were all getting stronger and stronger, but Luffy most of all. As he trained, gathering and refining his own spiritual power, he could feel the younger man training as well. Ever since they'd left the strange, stretched-out island where they'd fought Foxy and encountered that admiral, Luffy had been up to something. His perch on the figure head had been surrounded by an unmistakable aura of concentration. Zoro knew to leave well enough alone.
The captain might not have had the same type of training Zoro had, but the swordsman knew it for what it was. And it wasn't smart to interrupt a person when they were in the midst of intense meditation and physical transformation due to spiritual growth and energy conversion. Luffy had his own evolution to undergo, his own sort of steel to cut through so he could continue to grow. Now it felt as though that training had paid off. With an atypical yell, he took down another wave of the seemingly endless minions of the Court of Justice, venting out the power that swept down from the courthouse roof over his head. He already knew that the one CP9 member Luffy had been fighting was down.
Soon enough the rest of them would be as well and Robin and Franky would be free. And he and his captain and, he grudgingly admitted, his fellow crewmates would show the world just how far they had come and just how much farther they were all willing to go in the name of One Piece and in the name of nakamaship.

Date: 2005-11-06 08:18 am (UTC)'I've gotta get stronger so I can be there for my nakama so we can sail to get the One Piece so I can pay Shanks back and let him meet everyone who is my nakama who are all so wonderful that I can't let anything happen to them so I must get stronger and protect them unlike how it was with that old ice-uncle so how can I do that...okay what beats ice...heat...and if I got hot I'd really want Sanji to give some ice cream...mmmm ice cream is almost as good as meat...I'm really hungry, I wonder when lunch will be ready...Sanji makes the best food, I'm so glad I got him to be my chef and he's a great nakama too and I gotta make sure he stays that way so if I can make myself heat up that should give me more energy and then when I use it Sanji'll have to feed me more meat...mmm meat...I'm really hungry...I wonder if Zoro will fall asleep again at dinner tonight and I can the rest of his portion....Zoro's a great nakama and I want to protect them all even if Zoro doesn't need it as much as....'
and it goes on and on and on in Luffy's ADD addled brain while he stares out over the ocean blankly and drools from time to time. But Zoro takes the stillness and the blank stare for intensity and the waves of 'must protect nakama' and 'hungry' for energy building because they are...just not in the way HE would normally associate with traditional meditation.
And I think that, out of all of them, Zoro's the most likely to give Luffy the benefit of the doubt, followed by Chopper and Usopp.
