Title: Might As Well
Rating: PG
Pairing: Zoro/Usopp
Word Count: 300
It was the sleeping. The sleeping, the training, and the generally serious air the swordsman had about him. Between the naps and weight swinging and sword polishing and stolen drinks, Zoro just didn’t have time to get into the same trouble as the rest of the boys. A clever veil, Usopp had to give him that. But then he’d go and do something so utterly stupid and ridiculous and nonsensical and strangely noble, revealing that he was quite probably the craziest person in the loony bin known as the Straw Hat pirates.
No sane person tried to hack off his ankles or wrists in order to keep fighting. No normal human being would even think to wield another man as a sword. And sure Luffy had set off with just a rowboat to achieve his grand Pirate King dream, which was pretty nuts, but Zoro had actually agreed to accompany him in that flimsy craft. Yes, Roronoa Zoro was crazy and Usopp was pretty sure it was catching because he kept going along with the older pirate’s ideas.
It was just that the swordsman made the most outrageous suggestions with the straightest of faces. Usopp learned pretty quickly it was because he was truly serious. Zoro saw nothing wrong in starting bar fights for fun, in climbing crumbling mountain cliffs so he could practice in the thinner air. Nor could he find any reason not to tug the sniper into dark alleys as the marines ran by just so he could shove a clever tongue down his throat.
The mob shouted, too close for comfort, and he hesitated at the sight of swift water and the clumsy raft. But Zoro’s eyes were sparkling as he held out a hand and Usopp sighed, took it. And loosed the mooring line himself.
JUMP by Van Halen
I get up, and nothing gets me down.
You got it tough. I've seen the toughest around.
And I know, baby, just how you feel.
You've got to roll with the punches to get to what's real
Oh can't you see me standing here,
I've got my back against the record machine
I ain't the worst that you've seen.
Oh can't you see what I mean ?
Might as well jump. Jump !
Might as well jump.
Go ahead, jump. Jump !
Go ahead, jump.
Aaa-ohh Hey you ! Who said that ?
Baby how you been ?
You say you don't know, you won't know
until we begin.
Well can't you see me standing here,
I've got my back against the record machine
I ain't the worst that you've seen.
Oh can't you see what I mean ?
Might as well jump. Jump !
Go ahead, jump.
Might as well jump. Jump !
Go ahead, jump.
Might as well jump. Jump !
Go ahead, jump.
Get it and jump. Jump !
Go ahead, jump.
