Title: Right Time
Rating: PG-13 for implications
Word Count: 705
Pairing: LuZoSopp

“Are you sure?” Usopp asks, hesitation waging a pitched battle with fear on its side against excitement and hope and that little extra warm something in his voice that’s the reason Zoro smiles and nods.

“Idiot,” the swordsman says, but it’s affectionate and he reaches over to squeeze Usopp’s hand. That bit of physical reassurance – unexpected and, when Zoro doesn’t pull away, lets the sniper stroke a finger across his palm, encouraging - allows Usopp to return the smile, albeit a bit tremulously. Zoro turns his hand, then, laces their fingers together. “Of course I’m sure,” Zoro murmurs, leaning in until the sniper’s caught up in his gaze, tongue darting out unconsciously to wet lips that he’s expecting the swordsman will capture next. Attention diverted, Usopp doesn’t notice as the door to Sunny’s rather spacious bathhouse eases opens, helped along by the nudge Zoro’s given it with his foot.

The swordsman had told the room’s current occupant to leave it ajar, implications that he’ll have his hands full when he arrives. Of what had been left up to the imagination, but it’s fairly clear from the way Luffy’s jaw drops, Zoro smugly watching him out of the corner of his eye, that he wasn’t expecting it to be Usopp. The sniper’s eyes slip shut as Zoro closes the final inches between them and, unaware of their audience, doesn’t hold back the small, pleased noises in his throat as the older pirate wraps an arm around his waist and brings him closer. The unexpected sound of water sloshing over the side of the large tub makes Usopp break it off, whip around to see Luffy positively beaming at them, his grin stretching from ear to ear in the way that only his physiology makes literal.

“L-Luffy,” Usopp stutters, flushing and so torn between tearing away from and burrowing into the swordsman to hide that he ends up standing stock still instead as an unconcerned Zoro mouths his way down the sniper’s neck and Luffy avidly drinks it in. “This isn’t what it-“

“Yes it is,” Zoro rumbles against Usopp’s heated skin, clearly amused. “It’s exactly what it looks like.” He brings their still-twined fingers to his lips, drops a kiss and then a gentle bite on the sniper’s knuckles, all the while watching Luffy. “Happy birthday, captain,” he adds, the wicked glint in his eye matched by the faintly predatory cast Luffy’s smile has taken on.

Warm hands, wet from the bathwater, reach out impossibly far and settle on Usopp’s shoulders, soaking the cotton of his t-shirt. “Nnshishishi,” Luffy laughs, as Usopp’s wide eyes and tense frame finally start to relax, the situation going the way he’d so desperately wanted. “My turn.” Usopp stumbles forward towards the tub, pulled out of Zoro’s arms only to be caught in the very damp – very naked he notices suddenly, blushing even more – embrace of his captain. Zoro looks nonplussed for half a moment before he grins and nods, leaning against the doorframe as if he fully intends to just stand there and watch.

“O-oi,” Usopp starts, still trying to wrap his mind over how the situation has actually turned out the way he wanted so that he doesn’t notice the way Luffy’s already easing up his shirt until it gets tangled around his arms and blocks his view. “What about-“

“Zoro’s gonna go and get us some cake,” Luffy interrupts, fingers still busy tugging and touching so that Usopp can't get another word in edgewise. “’Cause I know Sanji made an extra one just in case and I don’t wanna wait until dinner to see what Usopp and cake taste like together.” He licks Usopp behind his ear, runs his mouth over the same spots Zoro’s just been at, and the sniper can’t help but shiver despite the steamy heat of the room. “He’s gonna come back real quick, though, because I wanna see what Usopp looks like when he’s tasting cake and Zoro.” That earns him a moan from the man in his arms and the sound of a slamming door as the swordsman runs off to harass the cook. Luffy chuckles and keeps on stripping his sniper and thinks that his birthday is off to a particularly excellent start.
