He waited patiently. It was hard to wait, to go so long without them, but they’d be back. He knew that even without the promises whispered against his belly by the mermaid, lazily mentioned by the ridiculous man lounging on his back. He was guarded and protected, kept safe and ready, and the days slowly ticked by as he floated. One day the waves were rough, choppy and violent, and he rode them out with half a thought to past adventures and the other half on the need to be ready for more in the future. Afterwards they examined him, his guardians, but he was sturdy and hearty and still hale. He went back to waiting, still waiting for those who called him nakama and who he called nakama in return, when a familiar figure turned up. Kuma raised his paw-hand and Thousand Sunny…
A/N: So I ended this one abruptly because we don't know what happened when Kuma turned up. We're still supposed to be under the apprehension that Kuma has been completely subverted except that Shakky says he's an ally or at least okay. Also we know that Dragon was going to explain more about Kuma to Ivankov but we never find out what that information is. So, yeah, Kuma shows up. Did he move the Sunny to a safer place? Did he just want to hang? It's a mystery!
