A Misttletoe Fic Meme from fffshuuu

Title: Showing Off
Rating: PG
Pairing: Luffy/Zoro and Robin/Chopper
Word Count: 524
Note: Furry. If you don't like Chopper relationships, don't read.

December twenty-fourth had always been a rather special day. After all, it was the day before Christmas, the day of built up expectations, pent-up excitement, energy so high that it burned itself out to be recharged in the sweetest sorts of dreams. In the floating home of the Straw Hat pirates, the day had gained an extra, even better sense of importance when the doctor had joined. Christmas Eve was Chopper’s birthday and the crew of the future pirate king knew just how to throw a party.

His life since leaving Drum had been so filled with happiness and joy that at first the reindeer boy hadn’t been able to absorb the enormous outpouring of affection that was showered upon him on his special day. He hadn’t been wanted and so his birthday had always been painful before. To have it celebrated because it was the day he had been brought forth into the world had made his eyes tear up and sent him hiding behind the sturdy or curvaceous legs of his crew members at first. But Luffy was never one to let maudlin feelings, nor gratitude, get in the way of food and fun, and eventually Chopper had thrown himself into the spirit of his very own birthday.

Presents had helped, and Sanji’s cake and hugs and maybe he shouldn’t have let Zoro keep filling his mug after dinner, but even if he embarrassed himself, it was all in good company. Besides, at this late hour leading up to midnight and the arrival of another, almost-as-important day, nearly everyone was running out of steam. Everyone except the captain, of course. Luffy had poor Zoro dodging about the galley for what had to have been the sixty-eighth time that evening, running and stretching after him with a sprig of greenery and mixed red and white berries in his hand. The crew watched with tired amusement as their leader finally succeeded in cornering his swordsman for what was actually the seventy-first time that day, dangling the rather sad and limp mistletoe over their heads from a rather too-long-to-be-human arm.

“Why?” demanded the swordsman, desperation and a teeny-tiny smidgeon of regret at having let Usopp bring the wretched plant on board in the first place coloring his tone. “Weren’t all those other times enough?”

“Shishishi!” Luffy just laughed and leaned in, pinning Zoro against the wall with his other hand. “I can never have too much of Zoro. Besides, I want you to show everybody else how you can talk even when ya kiss me. It’s really cool!”

“Goddamnit Luffy!”

And so the rest of the Straw Hats did indeed hear the trick as Luffy sealed his mouth over his swordsman’s. But Chopper, who would normally have been watching with one part doctorly curiosity and the other part nakama glee, was distracted by the soft and repeated chiming of a watch held up to his ear and by the sprouting of a hand from his forehead.

“Merry Christmas, doctor-san,” Robin murmured when she pulled away, leaving him red beneath his fur and tinting his blue nose closer to purple. “I hope you enjoyed your birthday.”

Title: Tit for Tat
Rating: G
Pairing: Momoshiro/Taka-san
Word Count: 557

“Yo, Taka-san.”

The small cluster of bells hanging at the top of the door jangled, startling Taka out of a rice-ball rolling trance. His father had said they were festive but Taka had found them jarring and had never gotten used to hearing them even though they’d been hanging up for two weeks already.

“Ah, Momo. G-good evening.”

He hadn’t been expecting the younger boy, hadn’t been expecting much of anyone really. Christmas was a time for lovers and for western food. Sushi didn’t really seem to go with the holiday. His father had even left the shop entirely in his care for the first year ever on the day, taking his softly teasing mother out for dinner and admonishing him to be careful and attentive. It had been a pointless warning. Taka hadn’t seen a single soul other than for a young woman who had popped in, all dressed up and in heels in spite of the unusual Tokyo snow, to ask for directions. But there Momo stood, scarf tossed haphazardly around his neck and earmuffs gingerly levered over his precious spiked hair, a few stray snowflakes already melting from his shoulders. Remembering his manners, Taka wiped his hands on his apron, picked up a piece of the other boy’s preferred fish, and smiled.

“Would you like something to eat?” Talented hands were already rolling, wrapping fish in rice with just a tiny dab of wasabi before finishing by binding the piece in seaweed.

Momo hesitated, a flicker of something flashing across his face, and Taka stopped in surprise. Momo NEVER refused an offer of free eats, his stomach being something of a legend within the team.

“Are you all right?”

Momo grinned at the concern in Taka’s voice, already tossing off whatever had bothered him as he moved forward to plop down at the counter. “Maybe you could make me one or two to go?”

A slightly odd request but Taka loved feeding his friends and he nodded, glad of the company. Momo filled the shop with quiet chatter for a few minutes as Taka worked, talking absently of this and that, mainly about tennis. His focus seemed to wander but the older boy was too polite to point that out and he really was grateful to see another face after his long and lonely day. Six neat rolls later, all nestled comfortably in a take-out box with the store logo printed on the top, Taka presented the sushi to Momo with a very slight flourish.

“Thanks, Taka.” Momo reached towards the box, slid his hand over top of it to close gently over his senpai’s. Taka froze, pinned in place by the unexpected, as Momo fished in his coat pocket with his other hand and drew out some sort of plant, holding it in the air between them for a second and flushing. It was quick, a rough brush of lips against lips as Taka stood there, completely stunned.

The murmured ‘Merry Christmas’ barely reached his ears but the metallic clanging of bells on glass brought him back to himself. Momo and the sushi were gone but there were three green leaves and a handful of berries pressed into his palm as payment. Taka raised a questioning finger to his mouth and let out a short surprised laugh as he realized he was smiling.
