The deck was warm and Zoro was nearly into his second nap of the afternoon when Luffy padded over from the galley. A plate of cookies, one after another disappearing into his grinning mouth, was in his hands, and Zoro eyed him questioningly as the pirate captain unerringly made his way over. Luffy plopped down unceremoniously, looked at his nearly empty plate. There were only two cookies left and he frowned as if surprised to see they were mostly gone.
“Here,” he said, holding out one of the remaining cookies. “Zoro should get one.”
Bemused, Zoro took it, chewing while Luffy bolted down the last of the treats. And then the captain leaned back, laid his head across the swordsman’s stomach. Before Zoro could even open his mouth to ask or to voice a protest, Luffy was reaching up, pointing at the sky.
“Hee, that one looks like Merry. Don’tcha think?”
Cloud gazing wasn’t a pastime he normally indulged in, preferring to turn closed eyelids towards the clouds rather than an imaginative eye, but Luffy was already moving on, gesturing at another one.
“And that one looks like Usopp. It’s gotta funny nose.”
It did, Zoro had to admit, and he slumped down further so he could see better while Luffy laid out their story in the heavens. There was Nami’s logpose, Chopper’s antlers. A funny scattering of clouds became a flurry of Robin’s arms. Sanji came out in the meat Luffy saw everywhere and in a curlicue wisp like his eyebrow.
“And me?” Zoro asked finally, charmed in spite of himself.
“Right there.” Luffy pointed at another set of clouds. “See, that’s you with your swords standing right next to me.”
“Ah.” Zoro looked. “That’s a pretty big piece of meat you’ve got.”
And Luffy smiled. Said, “Of course.”
Ian Van Dahl feat. Marsha Castles In The Sky
do you ever question your life?
do you ever wonder why?
do you ever see in your dreams,
all the castles in the sky...
oh tell me why...
do we build castles in the sky...
oh tell me why...
are the castles way up high...
please tell me why...
do we build castles in the sky...
oh tell me why...
are the castles way up high...
