Resuming the 3k drabble challenge from, what, a few weeks ago? The rules remain the same. 100 word drabbles that must be written in 5 minutes or less, including edits. And if I don't make it in 5 minutes, I must throw out whatever I was working on and approach it from a new angle. Of course, 5 mintues =/= quality, but it does make for an amusing race for myself. Chronological ZoLuZo again, this time continuing from right after leaving Alabasta up through the present and including references to anime filler.

Theme set this time is my own, taken from Hammerfall.
Rating ranges from G-maybe 1-2 that are very barely R?

1. I Believe
She stood there, brazen in spite of downturned eyes and gentle-seeming smile, and demanded asylum. The memories of grasping limbs, too many hands for even his strength to overcome, ghosted over the curves of Zoro’s biceps and the hollow of his throat. He protested, loudly, pointed out that she had been their hated enemy only days ago. Luffy laughed, the dark shadows that had been haunting his eyes since Crocodile finally banished, and welcomed her on board with his usual careless aplomb. The swordsman grumbled under his breath and kept his eyes open but didn’t go against his captain’s faith.

2. On the Edge of Honour
Left behind again, Zoro watched the crew vanish around the curves of the island before settling down against the rail with a quiet sigh. Guarding the ship was better than being the witch’s pack mule but he would rather have been watching their newest member instead of sitting on his ass. Sometimes he felt like nothing more than a glorified ship babysitter. It was boring but he supposed someone had to do it. At least he wouldn’t be distracted. Sleep swept over him and he napped through the rainbow fog, waking up finally to the captain’s laughter and another world.

3. Secrets
Napping in his usual spot against the rail, Zoro’s eyelashes fluttered while Luffy crouched over his black-clad torso and studied him. The swordsman was dreaming, lips moving wordlessly, and his left hand wandered across his hip to close around empty air. The captain grinned and reached out with a rubber finger to stir the golden earrings and listen to them chime. Zoro shivered and sunk further down on the deck and Luffy was tempted to see what else he could do until Usopp started firing the cannon. When Zoro woke, it was to sneeze and wonder why he felt strange.

4. Heeding the Call
Nami was stumped and of course it was the sneaky woman who had a suggestion. Sky islands seemed like dreams but apparently the Log Post couldn’t lie. Zoro had his doubts but Luffy’s grin couldn’t get any wider. It was the Grand Line though, so it probably was the truth. He kept his mouth shut and stood behind the captain while the rubber pirate jumped about and hung onto every word coming out of Usopp’s mouth. If the sky was half as amazing as the liar made it out to be, they were in for one hell of an adventure.

5. Back to Back
His sword slid smoothly back into its sheath and he squared his jaw and let Luffy take the lead. His lip split and he could feel his nose crack and bleed, a hair away from breaking. The captain went through a window, broken glass catching on rubber skin and leaving lines of crimson against his tan. Nami shouted, railed at them in the background, and they left the bar with desultory laughter ringing at their backs. The large man outside caught their eyes and Zoro followed Luffy again. This was what it truly meant to be partners, to be nakama.

6. Trailblazers
It was an unexpected surprise, something that made them both laugh, heads thrown back against a roiling black sky. Two posters bearing their names, Luffy worth so much more and Zoro with his own bounty at last. The whirlpool loomed and Nami shouted at them and threatened to hit them over their fool heads but they couldn’t stop smiling, leaning against each other for a stolen moment of joy in the midst of the usual riotous confusion. And even when they blasted off for the sky, the knowledge lingered and made them exchange pleased grins across Merry’s newly vertical deck.
