Spam part the second

7. A Few Hours After This
Luffy doesn’t care about the past, not really. It’s the present and future that are important, that will shape who he is now into the pirate king he wants to be. He believes it to be the same for his nakama and he does not ask about who they were or where they came from. Still, if information is being offered, he isn’t always above listening in. Usopp asks Johnny about Zoro after the swordsman has passed out next to Yosaku and the raucous laughter proves to be too much for Luffy’s endless fascination with the older boy to resist.

8. The Empty World
His heart stutters in his chest when Zoro raises his arms to embrace the death offered in the Hawk Eyes’ falling blade. There is a pit in his stomach, a hollowness echoing the ones in his breast and head, when the swordsman, his first nakama, sinks beneath the waves. He would dive in after if he could but he can’t and it feels like his dream, his world, is ending before it even started. And then a dripping arm holds forth a shining blade from the sea and they shout together, promises that fill every aching hole inside of him.

9. To The Sky
Golden armor cracks and splits beneath his fists as he strikes the wretched excuse for a pirate captain again and again. His heart is filled with rage and he lets it out of his body in punches, kicks, the occasional head butt. No one should be allowed to return the kindness of strangers so disgracefully, to treat a ship full of companions with such callous disregard. The blond cook yells at him to stop and he ignores him, a memory of his swordsman’s new promise held deep inside as he punches Don Kreig a final time and sends him flying.

10. Numb
Blood is leaking, tracing an almost ticklish path over his abdomen in one spot and trailing down his hip in another. Zoro knows he is holding himself together with little more than black thread, a heartfelt vow, and his own bullheaded determination. All he really wants to do is sleep and heal but Luffy is walking down the dusty path towards them with barely disguised fury in his eyes. The swordsman hauls himself upright and strides next to his captain. Maybe all he really needs is a fight to erase the pain and take the sting out of his defeat.

11. Hot Hot Hot!!!
Scalded fingertips shove themselves under his nose. Zoro sighs and blows on them until Luffy stops dancing from foot to foot and yelping. The meat pie nearly burns his leg through the blanket and he turns a hoary eye on his captain while Luffy grins sheepishly and mutters about a tray. It doesn’t really matter though because he cared enough to bring him food and because his fingertips are tracing the line of his scar as if they can see it through the bandages. His eyes are warm and Zoro begins to sweat and blames it on the forgotten food.

12. Prayers For Rain
Lightning blinds him and thunder deafens him and he can’t see the actual moment the blade falls. Zoro knows his mouth is open, brought wide by the silent scream that can’t quite claw free from his throat. Luffy can’t be gone, his dream is not allowed to end in such an ignoble way. There are people everywhere; confusion reigns as pirates, citizens, and marines mob the square. He catches the happy laughter in spite of the din, perhaps because he was listening for it against hope, and Zoro is glad it’s raining because it can’t be tears dampening his cheeks.
