dethorats400 chapters and still able to throw curveballs of awesomeness and put me on the edge of my seat.
Okay, where to start? Hmm, probably with the elephant. What the hell is up with the DF eating inanimate objects? Not that it isn't cool and bizarre and fascinating, but I'm VERY curious as to how it's even remotely possible. Of course, it doesn't really matter in the long run, but I do wonder how Oda will rationalize this. After all, he crack!rationalized the clouds in Skypiea, Dance Powder, and the existence of the Red/Grand Lines. Also, will Spandam gain ANY abilities from his whack bondage elephant sword (Funk Fried? Freed? Feed? I think it's Fried though)? XD Spandam is such a dork. I know he's the villain and all and we should hate him, but his very retardedness makes me like him a little bit. Kind of like Foxy.
Next, the key aspect. My guess is that NONE of the keys will actually free Robin. That's just a stalling tactic. Why in the hell would the WG and Spandam bother to give the Straw Hats any REAL fighting chance? They wouldn't. It's a ploy. I'm mildly surprised they all believed that...then again, I guess they can't afford to take any chances in case one of the keys DOES turn out to be important.
Also, Fukuro turned out to be a lot more badass than he initially seemed. Him scampering around all over the place was creepy and cool at the same time.
The fight match-ups...I expected Sanji v Califa. I expect Luffy v. Rob Lucci. I pretty much expected Zoro v. Kaku. But Franky v. Fukuro, Usopp/Soge King v. Jabura, and Nami v. Kumadori were not quite what I had been expecting. I mean Sanji v. Califa needed to happen. He needs to seriously fight a woman. And Califa's a beyotch whose evil ways should hopefully help Sanji stop being such a (sexist) gentleman and learn to kick bitchy female ass. Plus, they both are kickers so... And of course Luffy will fight Lucci. That's pretty much a given. It's time for the rematch. The same is true of Zoro v. Kaku, plus Kaku is the second strongest of the CP9 as far as I can tell and the same goes for Zoro in the Straw Hats.
I'm HYPED for Usopp to kick ass. Jabura will be an interesting opponent I think. Looking forward to seeing more Dial-inspired attacks and general Usopp spazziness and creativity. And I am hoping Nami gets to own too...once she figures out how to use the improved climb-a-tact of course. As for Franky v. Fukuro? Interesting. Especially with Franky needing more cola. I'm hella amused by that. XD Maybe I'm a cyborg too. I seem to need caffeinated sodas to function.
As for Chopper? He could never encounter anyone. He could run into a revived Blueno or Nero or former villain. He could encounter someone entirely new. He could run into Spandam and Lucci before Luffy does. I secretly hope he gets to fight Hattori. I really hope that that damn pigeon has some random powers and can kick ass. It would just amuse the hell out of me to see that. And it would be nice for Robin to somehow get to get in a few licks of her own at the end, esp. against Spandam.
And will we see what's through the Gate of Justice? And what's up with the waterfalls? And is Franky going to be the new crew member? XD I really liked when he called them all weird. That cracked me up, esp. coming from him. And he IS a musician... But my money is still on Soge King. Mainly because I love the crew dynamics as they are now. I have NO idea where Oda's going to go after this, and I'm hoping we get some good ass-kicking of CP9 lasting for 10-20 chapters first. I am READY for ass-whooping.
Oh, and Zoro on the last panel? That was both uber cool and uber lame at the same time. Just like him actually. And for some reason his facial expression reminds me of Joker from one of the Batman GNs but I can't remember which one. It's got that homicidal quality to it...
